This is not a lifesaving device is an earnest and playful attempt at weathering the storm. The work draws inspiration from Jill Johnston’s writing, Jeanine Durning’s nonstopping, Mr. Bean, Bob Eisen, Waiting for Godot, favorite quotes from family/loved ones/movies/performances and other miscellaneous life tidbits that will go unnamed here but I find charming and important to grapple with at this point in my life.

*Elizabeth Flood is a transmissions artist and writer based in Chicago, and her recent practice explores the relationship between radio and dance. Flood attempts to articulate the spatial, spiritual, and proprioceptive relationships between the two mediums through the sonic accompaniment of dance, exploratory radio essays, and installation. Her work has been performed at places such as The Arts Club of Chicago, Allen C Haskell Public Gardens, The Chicago Art Department, Lincoln Park Conservatory, Black Mountain College, performed on the airwaves of WFMU, WMUA, WLPN-LP, WGXC, and supported by the Experimental Sound Studio, Radiophrenia, and the Door Kinetic Arts Festival. Her primary muse is the East Leverett Meadow in Massachusetts.
