INGREDIENTS
1.5 oz. Deaths Door gin
1 oz. fresh lime lime
0.5 oz. Midori
0.5 oz Thai basil syrup *
Absinthe
Mint leaf
PREPARATION
1. Combine gin, lime juice, Midori and syrup in a mixing glass filled with ice. Shake until chilled, about 15 seconds.
2. Rinse the interior of a chilled cocktail or coupe glass with absinthe. Discard any excess absinthe at bottom of glass. Strain mixture in mixing glass into the waiting glass. Garnish with fresh mint leaf, spanked.
* To make the Thai basil syrup, first create a simple syrup composed of equal parts sugar and water. Set aside. Take 6 to 8 leaves of basil and blanche in boiling water for about 30 seconds. Immediately after, douse leaves in bath of ice water to halt the cooking process. Combine leaves with 1 cup of simple syrup in a blender and blend on high for 30-45 seconds. Strain out remaining pieces of leaves until syrup is free of solids. It will be a light green color.
