Josh Garvin is a Chicago-based film director and writer. He graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2014 with a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Directing but has been involved in film production and has had a passion for film since his youth.

He attended college at American University in Washington, DC but was losing interest in performing and didn't really have time for it. He took a basic photography class and thanks to an inspiring professor, he fell in love with taking pictures. He declared it his major and spent the next four years building a solid foundation in the art. Eventually, he had the opportunity to work with his professor-turned-mentor, Iwan Bagus, in the photo lab at American.

The next stop for Josh is Los Angeles. There, he’ll continue to seek out opportunities to direct and be involved in the film industry in any way that he can. He has several projects in the works with a couple of different creative collaborators. Among the works in progress are an animated short, two short stories and as many as five feature length scripts. Down the road, Josh looks to take what he learned from school and working in the film industry to teach college students what it means to be a director and work in film.
